Case Study

Lotto.com — Platform scaling across 12 regulated US markets

One platform. Twelve markets. One partnership.

With lotto.com we went live as an equal partner after joint planning and technical consulting — the US online lottery platform launched in May 2021. Since then we keep building new features together with the lotto.com team: from UX and product design to infrastructure and day-to-day operations.

The technical foundation: a Kubernetes-based infrastructure that automatically scales under peak load — for example during big jackpot draws — and absorbs failures. That keeps the platform fast and reliable, even when traffic suddenly multiplies.

Our approach

Scaling & Load

Infrastructure that holds under peak load.

At record jackpots, load can multiply within minutes. Our systems respond like an accordion: they scale up when demand rises and contract again once the peak has passed. So exactly the capacity that's needed is available — not too little for stable availability, but no more than necessary in normal operation.

To make that work reliably, we rely on the right metrics, tune infrastructure and application specifically for load behaviour, and make sure scaling isn't just theoretically possible but kicks in at the decisive moment.

The result: stable performance under load spikes — without unnecessary resources running in the background.

0 IncidentsNo incidents at the last jackpot draw — not even at 15× traffic.

< 5s FailoverFailover latency under real load — no player loses their session, even at peak.
Our approach

Compliance that doesn't slow you down

Security that's in the code from day one.

For us, Compliance by Design means enabling innovation — not slowing it down.

We don't see security and compliance as a hurdle on the way to new ideas, but as the foundation on which innovation can grow safely. That's why we anchor requirements in our projects from the very start and build processes that integrate naturally into everyday work.

A good example is how we handle artificial intelligence. Instead of banning new technologies or waiting for later regulation, we established a safe, clear framework early on — one in which teams could experiment and gather experience. That let us actively seize the opportunities of AI while reducing risks like shadow IT or uncontrolled data use.

It isn't about meeting requirements on paper or ticking boxes just before an audit. We design processes so they work day to day, create value, and sustainably improve the quality of our work. Audit evidence is generated continuously in live operations, security aspects are factored into technical decisions early, and compliance becomes a natural part of how we collaborate.

That way, audits and certifications aren't an obligatory milestone but a confirmation of what is already practised. For us, security and compliance aren't control instances but enablers that help organisations evolve safely, sustainably, and with strong innovation.

0 NonconformitiesNo deviations in the last audit — because requirements are built in from day one.
Compliance checks — Access Control, Encryption, Logging passed
SOC 2 Type 2 and PCI DSS frameworks
SOC 2 & PCI DSSTwo regulatory frameworks — supported in client audits on both sides of the table.
